Visit the Haut Var

The Haut-Var is home to many picturesque villages with a rich heritage that are worth a visit. Tourtour, listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", Cotignac, a stronghold of artists and celebrities, Trigance, dominated by its majestic castle, Salernes, the capital of artisanal tiles, Bargème, the highest village in the Var, Régusse, Aiguines and many more...


Further west, nestled on the hills, removed from the plains, a string of villages looms. Esparron and its 14th century castle, Rians an ancient fortified village, the charming villages of Ginasservis and Vinon-sur-Verdon, Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier and its Paleolithic and Neolithic remains, La Verdière dominated by its castle remodeled in the 17th century, Montmeyan standing on a rocky spur.


The village of Aups is located in a green setting where pines, oaks and olive trees appear. Shaded squares, narrow streets, remains of ramparts contribute to the charm of the village, like the 15th century Saint-Pancrace church.

The Verdon Gorges

The landscapes of the Gorges du Verdon are spectacular. Our region is ideal for hiking, kayaking, climbing or even paragliding. Sports enthusiasts and nature lovers, here is a selection of activities to do in the Gorges du Verdon… there is something for everyone!

Seillans the waterfall

Nestled in a magnificent green setting, the village of Sillans-la-Cascade is located on the edge of the Verdon Natural Park. It is a hilltop village like you only find in Provence, and it is very pleasant to visit. But it is especially for its magnificent 42 m waterfall that the village is famous. Head into the cool forest, discover the lagoon created by the waterfall, and bathe in turquoise water!

Aups

Perfectly integrated into the Verdon Regional Natural Park , the village of Aups will seduce you with its many assets. Relaxation, strolls and discoveries in the shade of the squares, leisure activities and festivities await you, with friends or family!

Take the time to stroll through the picturesque old streets of the village and you will have the opportunity to admire superb old doors. But also delicately crafted lintels, medieval houses, old fountains that adorn charming little squares, or even superb sundials. Aups has managed to preserve some medieval vestiges in its heritage such as its ramparts and its castle ruins.

Tourtour

Perched at an altitude of 635 m, Tourtour is rightly nicknamed "the village in the sky of Provence". The stone houses topped with round tiles, the Place des Ormeaux and its eight fountains, the vaulted passages and the sun-drenched alleys... It's all there! The walls of the medieval castle and the 17th century castle tell the story of several of the village's pasts...
